It is the will, the cohesion, the stamina, the discipline of its people and the quality of their leaders which ensure it an honourable place in history.โ As we approach National Day, we reflect on how far Singapore has come in the past 59 years, celebrating individuals like real estate leader Goh Kang Ho Alex who embody these core values and showcase our nationโs progress.

Alex Gohโs journey epitomises the spirit of Singaporeโs growth and resilience. Over 12 years, he dedicated himself to the nationโs defence in various command and staff positions, beginning as a young platoon commander and rising to division operations officer. In these roles, he oversaw operations involving thousands of personnel and an extensive arsenal of equipment across multiple services and formations. His leadership, characterised by a blend of โtough loveโ and unwavering dedication, earned profound respect and admiration.
One of Alexโs fondest memories was after a Battalion evaluation, when the men and commanders beamed with pride, sharing their โwar storiesโ and celebrating their performance, despite being the younger company. They saw the results of rigorous training and high standards of discipline, a testament to the steadfast service leadership exemplified by their commanders, who led by example and cared deeply for their soldiers.
During his overseas training, Alex witnessed firsthand the harsh realities faced by others, such as children struggling for food and clean water. "It made me realise how fortunate we are and the importance of giving back," he shares, which inspired him to continue serving the community even after leaving the SAF.

In 2009, Alex transitioned to real estate, channelling his commitment to service into a new arena. At OrangeTee, his military background has guided his strategic approach, leading to a remarkable expansion of his team from seven to 241 agents. โI lead my team with the same dedication I had in the military, focusing on leadership and service with heart,โ Alex shares. This commitment has clearly paid off, with the team achieving significant milestones in Singaporeโs property market.
One particularly memorable moment was when Alex orchestrated the successful launch of a major development project that initially struggled in the market. Despite the initial setbacks, the core team and leaders persevered, eventually selling more than 33% of the project. โIt was a turning point for us,โ he says. This achievement, marked by meticulous planning and unwavering effort, mirrors the persistent drive that fuels broader successes and transformations.

Beyond his professional achievements, Alexโs commitment to community service shines brightly. He has been a dedicated community leader since 2010, organising numerous events and initiatives in Queenstown and Yio Chu Kang, and chairing the School Advisory Committee. Currently serving as the Chairperson for Yio Chu Kang Citizensโ Consultative Committee (CCC), his efforts ensure that the community remains vibrant and united. โWhat inspired me to get involved with the CCC was a desire to give back to the community that has given me so much,โ Alex explains. A particularly impactful event was the annual National Day Observance Ceremony and Dinner, where he worked with volunteers and partners to organise a carnival that brought together families from all walks of life. โSeeing the joy on the faces of the children and their parents made all the hard work worthwhile.โ
